| Headaches are very common among people who have no chiropractic care. Headaches that are repetetive to an individual can be a sign of a serious problem. |
 |
| Headaches can be caused by brain tumors, cancer, increased neural activity in the body, subluxation, and muscle tightness. |
 |
| The two treated very effectively in our office are subluxations and muscle tightness. |
| 1. |
Subluxations are a twisting of your spinal column in which the slightest pressure on a nerve (the weight of a dime to be exact) can shut its function down to 60%, according to Colorado University. |
| 2. |
Muscle tightness-In your head you have tons of muscles that run across it. In the back of your head and neck you have a group of muscles called your sub-occipital muscles. These muscles are connected in a shape of a diamond with a big hole in the center of them. Within this diamond there is an artery that runs through it called the vertebral artery. If any of these muscles go into spasms, it will virually cut off the blood supply to the posterior portion of the head. Thus, decreasing blood flow and causing headaches. |
 |
| What can your chiropractor do about this? |
| |
There are many different ways to create an optimally postioned spine and to relax the sub-occipital muscles on the back of your head. A complete body evaluation is required to differentiate the difference between neurological or skeletal headaches, and how to go about treating them. |
